Straight to the Pits - Forged bottle opener from a railroad spike
Description
A deliciously pitted railroad spike came by my shop today. My natural instinct was to dump a bunch of heat into it and beat the crap out of it. Luckily for me, and for you, the end result is this great-looking bottle opener!Years of rust have left their mark on the surface of this piece. Now, though, all that rust has been removed through heat and brushing, and all that's left is the amazing pitted finish. I left the piece nice and straight to really show off its railroad-spike-ness, and to showcase this incredible pitting.
It's been given a finish to prevent rust, and ought to serve you well into the next century. Or your kids. Or maybe your grandkids.
