F l o w e r Y e a r s

Flower years is dedicated to the generations of women in my family (and women all over the world) that have for years and years, hand stitched metres upon metres of fabric.

I grew up watching most of the women in my family hand embroider these exquisite tablecloths. My favourite is about 70 years old, and has the most detailed flowers on hand woven hemp. (yes, they used hemp way back when). I now own this piece, and it's just as amazing now as it was then. So when I painted this piece, the flower, and colour made me think of my grandmothers in particular.

It's a love piece really. :)
