Sparrows Original Woodblock Print

Description

"Sparrows" is an original woodblock print produced using traditional Japanese Ukiyo woodblock printing techniques.

Dimensions: Paper size 8x10" (approx 200x250mm) Known as Chuban size. Image size 5x6.5" (approx 130x165mm).

The print will fit a standard 6 x 8 inch mount for framing.

Printed on fine Japanese Hosho paper using water based pure pigments from 3 hand carved blocks of Magnolia.

I've included images of the blocks to illustrate the carving and printing technique. The blocks are not for sale.

The final image shows the packaging your print will be delivered in, which includes an information leaflet on the print.

The image is based on a page from the Japanese Ehon (picture book) "Choju Ryakugashiki" (How to Draw Animals in the Abbreviated Style) published by Kitao Masayoshi (also known as Keisai) in 1797.

The print is stamped with my seal and chop.
