Treehugger Canister Set

Description

This stoneware canister set would look so pretty on a counter or kitchen island! It is named both for the tree leaves I use to make the leaf prints, and also for how it is made. . . Several years ago we decided to participate in a wind energy program through our local (Menasha) utility. So my electric kiln (and home & studio!) are powered with clean, renewable energy! I feel good about how my pottery is fired, and want you to feel good about using it!

The set is a group of three canisters, with graduated heights and widths. They hold 3 cups, 6 cups (1 1/2 quarts), and 9 cups (almost 2 1/2 quarts), respectively. They measure:

small: 7" to the top of the lid X 4" wide
medium: 7 1/2" to the top of the lid X 5" wide
large: 8" to the top of the lid X 6" wide

They are glazed in olive, purple, and blue, with a cream/transparent glaze on the interiors, and underglazes and iron oxide on the leaves. I make the leaf prints from real leaves, so no two prints are ever quite alike. These are Basswood, Oak, and Maple; and came from our neighbors' Basswood, an Oak in our local park, and another neighbor's Maple tree, respectively.
