Northwoods handspun artyarn, 113 yards (with knit sample)

Description

In June 2008, I took a 2 week road trip around the Great Lakes. I drove into Wisconsin's Door County, spent a few nights in Washington Island, then drove further north into Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This whole region was covered with dense forests. I loved to take walks in these beautiful, quiet and peaceful places. "Northwoods" is my tribute to this area.

"Northwoods" is a gorgeous mix of spruce, cedar, chocolate, jade, black and dark greens. The fibers include wool, mohair, bamboo, tencel and soysilk, much of which is handdyed. The yarn is bound by 2 threads: one strung with nearly one hundred semiprecious stone chips (jade, rust, gray, dark green, brown). The other thread is strung with several dozen wooden beads in chocolate, fawn and hazelnut. Some of them are mini "logs" (sticks cut in the diagonal and sanded). The yarn is approximately 113 yards and weighs 4 ounces/112 grams. This is an worsted to aran weight yarn, good for size US8 knitting needles and up.
The sample was knit on US8 needles.
