Description

Yerba Mate has been for centuries the most popular, and even sacred, drink in South America. It is made from the leaves and stems of a tree native to the Amazonian rainforests. It is drunk all possible ways: sweetened and unsweetened, hot and iced, flavored and plain, roasted, smoked, fermented, and fresh off the tree.

Yerba Mate contains an abundance of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. The Pasteur Institute and the Paris Scientific society in 1964 concluded "it is difficult to find a plant in any area of the world equal to mate in nutritional value" and that yerba mate contains "practically all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life."

Our Yerba Mate is organic, shade-grown. and sustainably harvested in its native rainforest habitat. During the curing process, it is smoked to give it a deep, earthy flavor.

Drinking Mate provides a calm, energized alertness, as opposed to the jittery buzz that comes from drinking coffee.

You will receive 4 ounces of loose leaf Yerba Mate in a brown resealable, glassine lined paper bag. Our bags are completely recyclable and biodegradable.

Allow to steep for 8-10 minutes.
