THIS IS A LEFT HANDED UTENSIL

This is the utensil that got me started doing this whole homeware thing. I was cooking pasta sauce one night back in early 2001 and decided I needed to make myself a good ... no, really good ... stirring implement. I already had the shape and form in my mind and next day roughed out a prototype which I sanded roughly and began using that night. It was perfect. I couldn't think of any way at all to improve it (other than smooth sanding and finishing, of course) ... so I have never tried ... why change a good thing.

This utensil is 'my' classic ... because it was the first piece I made and which quite unintentionally launched me into a new career.

The Classic Stirrer is a great all-rounder in the kitchen. It will do everything that a wooden stirring spoon will do ... and more ... and is wonderfully comfortable to use.

This utensil works well in pots where it's pointed profile gets into the corners effectively. It's also perfect for flat pans and can also be used in a wok.

The slightly dished shape means you can serve with it, pick things like eggs up ... and taste off it. Because it's wood, you can leave it in the pot without it getting too hot to hold.

Like all of my utensils, The Classic Stirrer is finished to a very smooth finish and fully sealed with a food grade 2 part sealer. Unlike utensils which are only coated in oil (vegetable or mineral) which washes off the first time you wash them, the sealing process that I use ensures that your utensils will keep their color and look great for several years.

The sealing process also creates an effective moisture barrier which preserves the wood, preventing cracking or mould growth. It largely prevents the wood from absorbing liquids from your food, hence eliminating the risk of growing bacteria or other nasties.

Your stirrer is pretty much maintenance-free. You can oil it if you really wish, but you aren't obligated to ... it will maintain it's appearance in normal use. If it finds it's way into the dishwasher by mistake ... don't panic ... it will be OK, as long as it's only occasional. To clean up, treat it like any of your hand-wash items and wipe dry after use.
