Cinema Forain Print
Description
This new painting is inspired by my favorite film director, Georges Melies. In fact he was the first film "artist".Cinema Forain refers to movies being shown at carnivals. It was one of the first venues before theaters were built. Georges Melies was inspired by popular authors of his time like Jules Verne and HG Wells. One of the many little details you can see is the book 20,000 Leages Under the Sea. "Diableries" which is marked on the safe is one of the coolest books I own; photos of little skeleton and devil scenes! (and I imagine old GM being inspired by it too!) Le Coq is a Pathe Film symbol/logo. Dancing dice! Butterfly girl! All my favorite items wrapped up in a beautiful monocromatic scene. Like an old black and white film.
This print will be sent rolled up as it is large 13 x 19 printed on archival paper, edition of 100, signed.
