Baroque pearls: silken ivory-white, rippled, and crinkled and gleaming in the light. Could anything feel more uniquely elegant?

Baroque pearls are simply pearls that are irregularly or unusually shaped. For this piece, I have selected pearls which have a wonderful, ripply texture; and hand-wired them onto sterling silver to form a necklace that measures a lavish, opera-length, 36 inches (90 cm)long.

The pearls are rather large, measuring about 9mm, and are near-round in shape. Each one has a very individual character, but they are well matched in color and luster.

The necklace can be worn doubled, as shown, or in one long, long fall of iridescence. It is finished with a swansneck clasp in hill tribes silver.

And what did I have to call it?

Scarlatti, of course. Because it's a baroque opera.
