Japanese Teapot, Brown Handpainted Vintage Redware
Description
This sweet little Japanese teapot has a chocolate brown, high-gloss glaze and is handpainted in moriage trim with a floral design, with some raised white and orange dots. It has gold trim and is stamped on the bottom, Made in Japan. This type of redware pottery was popular in the 1940s and 1950s. The teapot holds about 6 cups.The teapot is in excellent condition, with no cracks or crazing. There is one small chip on the unglazed portion of the lid and a few spots of wear on the gold paint, but no other issues that I could find. Note that it's a little lighter than it appears in the pictures.
Size: About 8 inches from spout to end of handle, and 6 1/2 inches tall (21 x 16.5 cm)
