Pink Mokume Gane polymer clay mirror

Dazzle your friends every time you pull out this unique mirror.

Perfect size to carry in any bag. The mirror is just slightly over 3" across.
The back is covered with polymer clay and though it's hard to show in the photos, there is a slight curve to the back side of the mirror making it very comfortable to hold.

This particular mirror is very detailed and definitely unique.
The design called mokume gane, comes from a metal working technique of laminating many sheets of metal together, distressing them, then polishing and smoothing like crazy.
The result is a pattern that very closely resembles burl wood.

Well... the same technique works wonderfully with polymer clay.
Many sheets of clay are rolled through a machine until they are paper thin.
The mix of clays in this piece include pearls, metallics, some translucent clays, pearl ex powders for extra sparkle, and even a bit of gold leaf.
All these layers are stacked, reduced, stacked again. Distressed, compressed.
When slices are taken off, the patterns are incredibly detailed and beautiful.
Sanding.... (and sanding, and more sanding) followed by a good buffing brings out the sparkle.

Be sure to look over the extra pictures for some close ups. And zoom in. Even those don't do the piece justice.

This mirror comes with the black draw string velveteen bag shown in the picture. Perfect for storing your mirror in with all your other goodies.
