Vintage Munising Wood Dough Bowl with Ducks
Description
A wooden three-legged dough bowl, made by Munising, has three handpainted mallard ducks flying across the center. Dating from probably the 1930s to 1940s, the bowl is made of a beautiful wood about 1/2 inch thick and has a lovely patina. Munising operated in Michigan, producing wooden ware between 1911 and 1955.This bowl is in good condition, with no structural issues or cracks but some damage to the finish, mostly on the bottom. Looking down on the bowl, there are some light scratches from use, a section of finish missing from a mallard wing, and some more sections of damaged finish in one area on the rim (below the largest mallard). The bottom has more damage to the finish, particularly some large stripes between two of the legs and some spots along the sides. Still, most of the damage is not noticeable and it remains a very nice piece for use or display.
Size: The bowl is oval--13 1/2 inches in one direction and 12 1/2 in the other (34.3 and 31.7 cm). It's 4 inches tall (10 cm).
