In the lore of my imagination, this small trinket painting was painted the summer Miss Jane Elisabeth Pike was 14 years old in the year 1810. her father was a merchant in Williamsberg, Va. Doted on by her father, Jane Elisabeth was a charming and vivacious young girl. She adored red sea coral that would come in on the ships and always wore a strand around her delicate neck.
She grew to be a beautiful woman who soon fell in love with a seaman. He woed her first with treasures from the southern islands, but won her heart forever with the promise of his undying love. What do you think became of Jane Elisabeth, the pretty girl from Virginia and her sea fairing soul mate?.....
