It's a timeless battle--the kids just want to get outside. They don't need a coat. They don't need a sweater! You, on the other hand, want them to at least stay dry.

This is, I do believe, the solution. Drop the poncho over the child's head, pull up the hood, and say, "Out you go!" (Hint: Have the snaps already done up.) They can run, play, and splash to their hearts' desire. And there's a fanny pack for a snack, cell phone, or just a little "I love you" note for them to find later.
