Porcelain Plum Mini Pot BowlThese mini-pots are just so much fun to make and sell well at the Artisans Market here in Ann Arbor! People by them for decorations, tiny vases or to use in other displays!
Mini pots are thrown on the wheel. The technique is called "throwing off the hump" where you make a little pot on the top of a mound of clay, then cut it off and go on to the next pot.
This pot is a small bowl in a rich plum glaze! It is 1 1/2 inches tall and a little over 2 1/4 inches in diameter.
The pot is fired to Cone 6 in an oxidation (electric) kiln. It is dishwasher safe and oven proof (if started in a cold oven). No toxic chemical are in this glaze!
