Squirrel Nutkin Real Acorn Cap and Honey Onyx Earrings

Description

These earrings are made from genuine acorn caps, buttery yellow Honey Onyx, and brass findings. The ear wires are niobium.

The acorn caps were selected for their size, color, and shape. Then they were soaked and carefully scrubbed clean with antibacterial soap. After being allowed to dry fully, the acorn caps are drilled and sealed with Triple Thick Diamond Glaze.

Inside each acorn cap, I place a 10mm Honey Onyx bead and accented with a green glass leaf. Onyx is created when quartz crystals are formed in cold-water springs, forming translucent layers of marble. It's not often used in jewelry, but very popular for use as tiles, counter tops, and sink basins. These beads were a rather uncommon find, purchased in New Mexico.

All of the findings in this pair of earrings are brass, except for the niobium ear wires. Niobium is the perfect solution for brass and copper ear wires, which can irritate some people's ears. It is hypoallergenic and can be tolerated even by people who can't wear sterling silver.

Total length of these earrings is 40mm.

Inspiration behind this Product:

I live on nearly four acres of wood and am surrounded by nature. I have, at my disposal, Ohio Red Buckeyes, Contorted Filberts, quartz deposits, and Oak trees. As As I learn more about the plant and geological material that exists on my land, I find it making its way into my jewelry more and more. Even though I carefully select my materials, please remember that they are natural and allow for slight irregularities.
