if the heavy ones knew how here everything is light (original painting)

Description

the original title of this painting is 'si les lourds savaient comme ici tout est leger', which is taken from a francoiz breut song.

it is an original painting on deep-edge canvas i made for a personal exhibition in Rome in 2006. it was part of a collection of semi-abstract city scapes dealing with the search for identity in places and nooks and corners of places that don't seem to be anywhere in particular.
this is the only portrait from the exhibition, and one of the few realistic portraits i have done for exhibition work. the girl is placed unknowing and out of context within a series of lines, representing a seemingly distracted unawareness of place. she is her own corner, among corners.

the painting is lightly varnished to protect the colours, and is made to be hung as is. all my paintings continue on the side of the canvas.
