Bottle opener - Pocket-sized and hand-forged

Description

Here's a great little bottle opener, perfectly designed to stash in a back pocket. Maybe even one of those small side pockets on a pair of jeans, if it's big enough. The opener will open your beverage of choice with great ease, and you'll look quite fine while doing so.

I started with a piece of strap steel, about a quarter inch thick and three quarters of an inch wide. Using a chisel, I slit the bar open, and then drifted that slit into a semi-round hole. Lots of heat and hammering shaped that hole into a ring. I cut the piece off the rest of the bar, hammered out the handle, and voila! A super-fancy, super-compact, super-great bottle opener.

I finished the piece in a super-secret blend of oil and wax to prevent the formation of rust. As long as the piece sees regular use, it'll outlast all of us. Heck, drive a truck over it! It'll probably be none the worse for wear.
