The Turtle Linocut- Limited Edition
Description
The turtle is my totem animal; I'm not sure why, but I've always collected turtle things. They seem so wonderfully complete with their shells as portable homes. They are associated with the earth, of course. Legend has it that Fu Hsi, first sovereign of China, invented writing after studying the markings on a turtle's shell. This turtle is a linocut; I carved him in linoleum, inked it and printed the turtle on Japanese kozo - or mulberry- paper, by hand. This limited edition (to a total of 30 prints) linoleum block print is printed in water-based green block printing ink. The block itself is 4 " by 5.5" (or 10.1 cm by 14 cm) but it is printed with a generous margin.
