Punch Needle 'Sheep in the Meadow' Penny Rug

I've had a hankering to whip up some penny rugs again and thought, why not feature a punched piece to conpliment it? So that's what I did with my original design, 'Sheep in the Meadow'. I've used my yummy, hand dyed wool threads for the punched piece. I applied a hand twisted cording in a coordinating shade of wool thread all around it for a nice finishing touch. The penny rug is made from felted wool. I've backed it with the same color wool felt to give it a nice, cushy feel and to hide my stitches. A long, skinny cinnamon stick serves as the rod and I used rusty wire for the hanger. No glue was used for this entire piece! Every stitch was made by me, The Fool herself!

The Penny Rug measures about 9 1/2 inches tall from the top of the rusty wire hanger to the bottom of the penny tongues and about 5 1/4 inches wide.
The punched piece measures about 3 inches wide by 2 inches tall.
