Autumn Leaf Earrings

Description

Deep brown was layed over pea green to create the wonderful fall design on these earrings. The pattern was created by kiln-firing enamel onto a copper base. The enamel was then etched to give it a matte finish. Enamel is finely ground glass that has been heated until it fuses to the metal. Earrings measure 3/4 inch in diameter and hangs from sterling silver earwires. The back of the earrings have been counter-enameled for strength and durability. I used clear glass ("flux") to allow the beautiful natural copper to shine through.
