Description

11 ounces of beautiful silky white and cream lambs wool from this autumn's shearing. The wool is silky and soft. It would make a great low twist single ply yarn or strong double ply. Garments made from this wool can be comfortably worn next to the skin.

This wool has been washed in a mild soap, lavender oil, and air dried. Although I take great pride in the cleanliness of my wool, there still may be a stray piece of vegetable matter I missed. It will easily fall out while you prep the wool. Included with the fleece is a scented pouch filled with lavender and pennyroyal to deter insects during storage.

You'll have peace of mind knowing our sheep live peacefully on picturesque green pastures and raised without hormones or antibiotics. If you would like to see photos of the sheep visit www.pehlingbayfarm.com.

About Icelandic Wool: Icelandic wool has two distinct layers. A protective outer coat called 'Tog' shields them from harsh weather conditions. It is feels almost hair like, yet soft and durable in young sheep. When spun, it adds luster and strength to yarn much like mohair. The undercoat called 'Thel' is soft and can feel downy or silky with some crimp. Because Icelandic wool is considered 'dry' (meaning it has little lanolin) it is easy to wash and handle. The wool can be spin directly from the lock or prepared by picking, teasing, or carding. A good choice for both beginner and advance spinners.
