La Calavera / The Skull Loteria Series ATC / ACEO Artist Trading Card Print

Description

This is a GICLEE PRINT on thick 140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper of an Artist Trading Card, or ACEO card. Original was part of a series of hand drawn Loteria Cards which were drawn in India Inks and hand colored with watercolors.

Size is 3.5 X 2.5 and comes in a hard plastic cover for protection. This card is signed by the artist.

THE THEME:
The theme is the Mexican Bingo Game - Loteria. Since moving from Canada to the South Bay, California, I've enjoyed learning about Mexican Heritage. Many of the images I've been influenced by end up being incorporated into my artwork. Loteria is fun and whimsical, the imagery it stirs up is very powerful.

ABOUT LOTERIA:
La loteria is an old game of chance played throughout Mexico. It first became popular in the last half of the eighteenth century and although it is rapidly being replaced by modern, electronic games, it is still widely played at festivals, fairs and carnivals. Despite its name La Loteria most resembles a form of bingo using pictures instead of numbers.

LA CALAVERA: Al pasar por el panteón, me encontré una calavera.
The Skull: While passing the graveyard, I found a skull.
