Fire and Ice Homopterids
Description
Here's an insect I'll bet you haven't seen before: the Homopterid "Penthicodes pulchella" from Indonesia. These "lantern flies" are closely related to cicadas, and are found in tropical Asia. They are called lantern flies because people used to think they lit up like lanterns. Turns out they were wrong, but the name stuck! This pair comes in gorgeous shades of fire-orange and red, and looks great against the ice-green background. Each insect is about an inch and a half across.
Their double-matted frame is about 8x10 inches, and is made from black wood with black and white mattes. It comes ready to hang on your wall or stand upright, and is about an inch deep.
Displayed out of direct sunlight, real dried insects will last for many years to come!
