treasure box - mathematics - magnetic closure
Description
Entirely handmade box.Inside box measures slightly under 3.5 x 3.5 inches. 2-inches deep.
Exterior measures 4 x 4 x 2-3/8 inches.
Made with book binding techniques.
Paper: quality scrapbook paper, "compound subtraction" plus a lot of numbers.
I figure math-types might be hard to shop for.... plus I like math.
Drop spine design.
Magnets recessed into lid and box front hold lid tightly shut.
100% archival.
I make my boxes from scratch. The structure is book board. I recess a small strong magnet into the front edge of the box. Another strong magnet is aligned and recessed into the box lid. The spine of the box is 'drop' (not glued to the tray). The magnets hold it tightly shut.
To give you an idea of scale, a Post-It cube fits inside with a little wiggle room.
