Jellyfish Scarf in Black

This scarf came about because I work in my basement. Since heat rises, my workroom is the coldest part of the house. That's very pleasant in the summer, not so pleasant in the fall and winter, when I'm down there working 5-6 hours a day. So, I recently knit myself a scarflette to wear inside, while I was working. It buttoned around my neck, and I was amazed at how comfortable and warm I felt wearing it. But because I made it to wear inside (although it's wonderful to wear outside, with a coat) I wanted it to look a little more like textile jewelry, and a little less like a scarf. I added long, colorful fringe to my scarflette, and the Jellyfish Scarf was born!

This is a copy of the original one I made for myself. I used soft, black chenille, and recycled sari silk yarns for the scarf body, and then used those yarns again, and added colorful sari silk ribbon yarn to make the long fringe that inspired the jellyfish name. A crocheted edge of sari silk yarn adds extra color. The scarf is 18 inches from button to button hole, 21 inches from end to end, 3.5 inches wide, with wild and wonderful 6 inch fringe all round. It closes with a large yellow vintage button. This Jellyfish scarf is a blast to wear, and you'll love all the compliments you'll get! If you'd like a different size, or color, convo me. Fibers used are silk, acrylic and rayon. Hand wash in cool water, roll in a towel to absorb moisture, then dry flat, blocking to original measurements.
