The ruddy golden glow of good madeira citrine has an elegant warmth that feels just perfect for autumn days.

For this necklace, I nestled a flawless, faceted madeira citrine briolette drop in an organic looking tangle of 14k gold-filled wire, and hung it from a 14k gold chain.

Then I decorated the links with tiny, brilliant rondelles of superbly gemmy hessonite garnet, in colors of honey, and cider, and cinnamon. Each of the 2mm rondelles is suspended individually on 24k gold vermeil pins to move freely with you, for a dancing sparkle.

The citrine is beautifully cut in a fine faceted teardrop shape that comes to a sweet little point at the bottom. It is kind of enormous; nearly an inch (24.5mm) long, and with a weight of 37 (!) carats.

I love this rock. It is flawlessly clear, and a burnished golden orange in color. In low light it is like a drop of spiced cider. In strong light, it sparkles with the paler gold of sourwood honey.

The briolette is hung from a length of fine gold-filled cable chain, which I have decorated at the clasp with two more rondelles of hessonite garnet, in the same rich color as the pendant.

The necklace is about 20 inches (50cm) long, with the pendant adding another 2 inches (5 cm) in length. It is finished with a 14k gold filled lobster security clasp.

This natural briolette drop has been heated to enhance its beauty.
