Wood Block Vintage Image Covered Vase-Lady Freaks

This all upcycled wood vase is made from a vintage building block. It has been covered with original images from a book of Freaks I recently found from the 1950's. I have always felt a kinship to these people-perhaps because I am a woman who is 6'2" tall and have been teased all my life. This book is entitled Very Special People. The top of the block has the title and"outwardly different from you and me-inwardly the same". SO TRUE! So, you will find conjoined twins, a woman who always wore a veil because of her face and two bearded ladies. There is a hole drilled in the top and a vintage 4" glass test tube inserted. (I do not have a drill press-all holes are drilled by hand and may be a bit crooked at times) This is large enough for a single flower or remove the tube and use it for a pencil holder. I then sand all the edges and add a rubbing of oil pastel paint. Finally, a coat of sealer and two finishing satin finish coats are applied. This single block measures approx.2.75 X 2.50 X 1.25. Everything used to make this item has been upcycled including the glue and spray finish!
