Vintage Wood Block Vase-Insects

I got some new old blocks in a slightly larger, heavier size so I could turn them longways and they are still sturdy. This allowed me to use some pictures I couldn't use before-like these from a 1930's encyclopedia. This block has insects-hundreds of them. One side is benefuicial insects, the other is injurious insects. The opposite sides have images from a 1930's science book and has color pics of various large bugs. The definition of an insect is on the top. I get itchy just looking a this! I used a green color to accent the bug world. These block vases have hand drilled holes (may be crooked sometimes) to hold a vintage glass test tube to hold a small flower or can be used as a pencil holder as well. I hand sand the edges and add a rubbed oil pastel color on to the edges. Then it is sealed and two-three coats of satin sealer is applied. These are 95% upcycled materials including the glue/acrylic spray. This block measures 5.50X2.75X1.35 and is a heavier hardwood than my others.
