This is a drop spindle for hand spinning yarn with a gorgeous turquoise howlite whorl. The shaft is carved lignum vitae (aka ironwood, the hardest wood known- -it actually SINKS in water!!) The hook is a heavy gold filled wire which I hand bend, set, and file smooth forming a graceful, balanced curve.This spindle is a joy to spin with and visually stunning. Treat yourself!!
