Great gift for book and art lovers alike! Published in 1945, this lovely book features several of Hans Christian Andersen's famous classic fairy tales. "Little Tiny", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Emperor's New Clothes", and "The Little Match Girl" are among the 29 stories included in this edition. Richly colorful, exotic illustrations by the famous Polish born Jewish artist Arthur Szyk make this book a must-have! Mr. Szyk was not only a famous book illustrator, but also a noted political cartoonist of the 1940's era, whose pieces against Nazi Germany were published in American magazines and newspapers.

The cover of the book is in overall decent condition for being around for 60 years! The front has a few spots, the spine has 2 stains. There is a small bit of wear at the top and bottom of the spine, and around most of the corners. The inside is pristine! There are no markings or tears. The illustrations look as vibrant as they must have been back in 1945!
