Crabs were a special part of my summers growing up in Maryland. They truly are beautiful swimmers as well as feisty little critters full of 'tude. An afternoon crabbing and eating our catch was a messy but fun treat. Now the famous blue crabs of the Chesapeake are a threatened species in a badly damaged but beautiful eco-system. My crabby finger puppet reflects my love of that great crustacean. I knit it with certified organic blue wool yarn, eco-wool yarn for the belly (the apron, if you will). After joining all parts, I wet felted it for a durable and fuzzy finish.
Organic wool? No chemical fertilizers or pesticides...one the great contributors of watershed pollution in our nation. And the yarn is sooo, sooo soft. yum.
