How To

Description

"How To" is a letterpress-printed "collision" book. First, let me describe the "collision." Essentially, a "collision" book is created by pulling text from one source and images from a completely different source and "colliding" them together to form an entirely new book. In this case, I "collided" definitions of BDSM terms with images from a 1950s first aid book. Though the text and images come from different places, they seemed to fit together so well that I couldn't resist making a book with them.

"How To" is 16 pages of letterpress-printed goodness on white cardstock with a saddle-stitch binding (aka, stapled). The book measures 8.5" x 5.5" and was printed using a split fountain, or rainbow roll, on a Vandercook Universal I press. I applied blue ink to one side of the rollers and black to the other to give a gradual fade from black text to blue image.

"How To" was printed in an edition of 50 and is signed and numbered.
