Dragonfly and Corn Maiden necklace
Description
The detail work on this large dragonfly charm has a real Native American flare to it.The lower wings have ears of corn on them. There is a Zuni legend about the people foolishly wasting food with a "food fight", this angered the Corn Maidens and to teach them a lesson they send famine and drought. A little boy fashions the first dragonfly from cornstalk and it comes to life. This was pleasing to the Corn Maidens and they have a plentiful harvest. In the summer you can find the dragonfly humming among the corn.
The charm is made in the USA of brass with a copper patina finish.
I added colors of turquoise and teal to add to the SouthWest feel.
Small rounds of turquoise Magnasite and larger ovals of teal Sesame Jasper tucked in between copper bead caps.
This necklace measures 18 inches long and is finished with a lobster clasp.
The dragonfly is 1 1/2 inches long and 2 inches wide.
I can make the necklace any length, just let me know!
