Lapis lazuli is a beautiful stone with a rich lore and history or uses.

Lapis has been mined and used for centuries. The oldest lapis mine dates back 6000 years. Ancient Egyptians believed lapis to be sacred and buried it with their dead to protect and guide them in the afterlife. Lapis was also symbolic of truth (Ma) and was worn by the chief justice. The kings of Ur sharpened their swords on lapis believing that it would make their weapons invincible. Sumerians believed that a wearer carried the presence of God with him.

This ring features a square lapis lazuli cabochon set in sterling silver. The bezel cup that holds the lapis was soldered onto a hand braided sterling band.
