Triangle Interlace necklace
Description
Interlacing or knotwork is probably the motif most commonly associated with Celtic art, though in fact the Celts did not start doing it until well into the Christian period (around 7th c AD) and probably learned it from marauding Vikings.Now-a-days there are many meanings associated with specific knots, but these are most often modern interpretations. The monks who crafted knotwork in the Middle Ages did it for the greater glory of God, and for no other reason.
Interlacing is found in many different cultures, though not to the same extent and was borrowed by the Celts. When the Celts borrowed an idea from another tradition they always added their own unique character and made it their own. It can be traced back to ancient Egypt, where, in the long form, it was a stylization of running water. In a circle it could indicate a well.
Chain is made of red brass (similar to bronze) and comes in any length.
