18g brass 'filigree' blade hoop earrings

these earrings are so lightweight and dramatic!

this listing is for a 18g thick pair (1.0mm) for 'regular' piercings*

approximately 2" (~5cm) long (see last photo with ruler)

*18g (1.0mm) earwires fit most people who are accustomed to wearing earrings regularly.
if you know you need the very very thinnest wire possible, you can purchase these as a 20g (thinner wire) special order.

inspired by my friend rubygirl's ( http://rubygirl.etsy.com ) innovative use of similar 'filigree' findings, these hoops incorporate brass pieces tha have an oxidized finish with mottled dark, bronze(ish), and copper tones. soldered to polished sterling silver earwires.

(each pair will have slight variations in the patina and texture of the brass stamped disks)

(they are not true filigree, which is the fine craft of manipulating thin strips of metal into intricate shapes)

i think of the faux filigree series as doodles for future pieces that will have handcut/etched/pierced/formed blades of my own design and making.
(but in the meantime, i really like these!)

a note about my 'blade earrings'
i developed this unique style for thicker gauge earrings, but i've found it translate quite nicely to a standard earwire, as long as the wearer treats the wire carefully!
it takes a little getting used to, but you can easily take these in and out without bending the wire (only flex gently!) i will send you some tips after purchase!
