Benny's Moebius Neck Warmer
Description
Inspired by the late, great Elizabeth Zimmerman, this neck adornment is lightweight and perfect when you want some warmth but don't want to fuss with a scarf. The two-ply, sport weight yarn was spun by me on my Ashford Elizabeth wheel as an experiment to ply a warm color with a cool color. The warm ply is 85% wool and 15% mohair, dyed by Judith the owner of Knox Farm Fiber in Buffalo, NY. I spun the roving in order to retain the asymmetrical stripes of her dye pattern. The cool ply is 100% wool dyed by a local farm - no information provided with the fleece as to the type of wool or the name of the dyer. It is color-fast. The yarn was washed after the spinning and plying and once again when the knitting was finished.
The pattern is a seed stitch, chosen to create a non-curling fabric and for texture. And, I confess, I enjoy the rhythm of knitting seed stitch.
Benny is the goat who provided the mohair. Rita and Blossom are the sheep who provided the wool.
Size: one size fits most adults and is 8.25 inches tall by 23 inches around.
Care: hand wash in warm water with mild soap or shampoo and dry flat.
