civil war replay

Description

this rugged-looking thing is actually based on the look of civil war diaries, not the least of which is the diary of john wilkes booth, found after his now famous presidenticide (or however you would chose to spell that). i didn't have any funky red leather laying around to make a full-on reproduction, so instead i tried something a little more accessible. (^_^)

this book is 5 by 8 inches (~13 x 20.5 cm), and had 160 pages of unlined 32 lb ivory cotton paper, awesome awesome stuff to write on. it will take ink, washes, some lighter paints, whatever. i especially love scribbling with my fountain pen all over this paper; it's what i have in my own List Book that i carry around in my wallet. the cover is ultrasuede, which of course is what they would have used in the civil war, if they'd have invented it by then. (^^;) the closure and shape, as i said, are after mr booth's flashy red diary. it's done in chain-stitch binding, which means it will lay flat for writing, and the endpapers are watercolor paper, splattered with walnut ink. because i didn't quite have enough brown in this book yet. (^^;)
