Vintage PAULINE TRIGERE Magenta Wool Princess Dress S / M

Gorgeously chic magenta wool crepe vintage 1980s Pauline Trigere princess dress.

The princess cut has to be The most flattering cut of all, for all women in their wonderful variety of shapes. It fits the torso snugly, skimming, and then flares away from the waist to the hem very gracefully. This Trigere piece is princess seamed (of course) front and back, and sewn exactingly in eight panels, which gives it its beautiful shape.

I especially love the neckline on this dress, with its pie-shaped large notch at the throat which frames the face wonderfully, and the angular cuts at the neck. It has long sleeves that are zippered at the wrists for a perfect fit, long invisible zipper down the back, fully lined (except the sleeves) and the lining around the zipper finished by hand.

Pauline Trigere was one of the true American greats in fashion, and one of the last of her era to design by draping on the model. Her designs, fabrics, and exacting finish work are legend. When you wear Trigere, you are truly wearing fashion history.

Era: Late 1980s (Note: This is my best guess. Trigere pieces are notoriously difficult to date precisely because - bless her - she did not follow trends but walked her own design path. Style-wise this could be from the 1960s through the 1980s, but by feel I know this isn't earlier than 80s.)
Color/s: Magenta (a pink purple)
Fabric: A fairly lightweight wool crepe
Fastenings: Long hidden nylon zipper down back with hook and eye at the top, zippers at wrists
Size marked: N/A (as with many high end garments), approximately a modern U.S. size 4/6.

The Measurements: 38 inches bust, 31 waist, 42 hips, 16 shoulder to shoulder, 23 sleeves, 41.5 mid shoulder to hem.

The Condition: Excellent, immaculate, with no flaws. It is ever so slightly fuzzy from having been worn (read: not in brand new condition, but pretty close), and there was a half inch seam separation on the back below the zipper, which I've repaired.

The Shipping: Delivered by three princesses, I mean Priority mail, within the U.S.; International First Class to Canada, and International First Class to Everywhere Else.
