Description

This Pyrography piece is based on the ghost story of La Lorona the weeping woman.
The story as told to me when I was a child, was that a poor woman of the townfell in love with a wealthy man.So she drowned her children in the river in the hopes that if she were unencumbered with them, he would love her.
Horrified, he rebuffed her, and despondent she drowned herself in the same river where she murdered her children. She haunts the waterways and rivers,crying for her lost children, and if you are not a good little boy or girl, she will carry you away to replace the ones she lost.....

"La Lorona" was first drawn on a piece of recycled alderwood, and the pyrographed (aka woodburned) The highlights were added with a light wash of india ink .

The souls of all the lost children she has taken wait in the background.
Signed and dated on the back,Many hours of work went into this one, and it would look beautiful framed, or just hung as is,
a great addition to your collection!!
