Written in the Night Sky Better-than-Leather Journal

Description

I'm loving playing with paint and kraft paper these days. I decided to try to create a black background and still have some texture and interest to it. I started with black acrylic glaze on distressed kraft paper and then stamped it all over with a script rubber stamp. When the paint was completely dry, I dry brushed gold Pearl Ex into the whole thing and wiped it off with a damp cloth. I was so happy to see that the lettering showed up crisply in places, vague in others. It reminds me of stars in a way, but also something out of Harry Potter.

The painted paper is fused together with a layer of Tyvek and another layer of distressed kraft paper, which is what you see on the inside cover. The end result is super strong and flexible, like leather only better because it's cruelty free. I added an astronomical stamp in gold and silver on the front for interest.

The journal pages are all hand torn and stained with strong coffee. This gives the pages an aged look, all a lovely brown, some more heavily stained than others. This will be fun to journal in.

The closure is made from a double strand of waxed irish linen thread that wraps around the book a couple of times before twisting around itself to close. It's finished at the end with a some black, gold and silver beads.

The pictures really don't do this one justice. Once you hold it in your hand, you won't want to put it down.
