Greene on Green - handspun handdyed 2-ply finewool yarn - 396 yards
Description
This lovely skein is spun from a sheep named Benny. Every year Benny gives up his lovely fleece to be washed by his Shepherdess (they live in Montana) and then processed at a USA mill into dreamy combed top. Benny is a California Variegated Mutant sheep -- that's a finewool, a badger-face variation of the Romeldale breed.I spun up 6.2 ounces of Benny on my wheel into a lovely medium-twist balanced 2-ply yarn, and then dyed the skein into a "semi-solid" dual-tone green ... thus the name, Greene on Green. The dyes used were acid dyes, with white vinegar as the acid, and heat used to set the color.
The skein is 396 yards, 6.2 ounces, and about 11 wraps per inch -- so a light worsted or CYCA #4. This yarn would be lovely for knitting, crochet, or weaving.
Care for your yarn: hand wash cool, air dry. This is a feltable yarn, do not machine wash.
Your yarn will be shipped wrapped in tissue paper and a plastic envelope, via first class mail.
