These very stylised fish hook jade carvings or pendants represent prosperity,abundance, fertility and strength. They are also seen as good luck charms, particularly for those traveling over water. Hei-Matau are symbols of power and authority which are held in great reverence by the Maori people.

This pendant has been carved from bone encompassing traditional New Zealand Maori design.This one has a small paua shell insert.

It measures 1 5/8" long and 1" wide...comes with the black cord which is 23" long but you can alter it to another length very easily.

Your unique pendant will arrive in its own handmade flax kete (shown in last photo...pendant shown there is for illustration purposes only) which is perfect to store your pendant in or for gift-giving.
