Naturelle - Rare Pitt Island Merino Handspun Singles Yarn - 116 yards
Description
This all natural handspun, undyed skein is a very unique sheep fleece indeed -- Pitt Island Merino. Go ahead, google it. Cool, huh? And island of only 50 people and a unique bloodline of Merino sheep.I received a pound of unscoured Pitt Island merino roving (i.e., still raw, except for the carding) in this lovely natural heather-grey. This skein of 3.6 ounces was scoured clean after spinning, and is a delight to touch.
Read a bit more about the spinning of these singles on my blog, here:
http://askthebellwether.blogspot.com/2009/10/yarn-story-special-singles.html
This skein is 116 yards, 3.6 ounces, about 10-12 wraps per inch, so a light worsted weight (CYCA#4). I'd recommend a US 8/5mm knitting needle. These are singles with some active twist, so a pattern that would not exhibit bias, or a round item like a hat, would be recommended.
Handwash cool, air dry. This is a feltable wool, so do not machine wash if you do not want to felt it.
Your skein will be mailed to you wrapped in tissue paper and in a plastic mailer, via first class mail.
