I love thunderstorms. I love the sound of the thunder and the rain hitting the earth, I love the smell of the rain and the feel of the wind. I love them.

So, when a thunderstorm is rolling through, I always want to go play in them. Sadly, that's a bad idea, because one bit I don't think I'd love about thunderstorms is being hit by lightning. A compromise is that I can go stand at a door or window and enjoy the scene from there.

This photograph was taken during a wonderful thunderstorm, with me standing at the back door enjoying the pouring rain. I decided to use a flash with this photograph, something I rarely do, hoping the light would reflect back off the rain and hail, and it worked out. This is also a cool technique in snow, by the way.
