HUMMINGBIRD SEEDS--Canna patens

Description

20 seeds collected from my own plants this fall. There is also a matching feeder for sale. Buy them together and save on postage!

I believe these are Canna patens, but Canna taxonomy is tricky, and I am not an expert. They are small in stature, about 3-4 feet tall, with small, bicolored, orange red/yellow flowers with lemon yellow reverse. The leaves are bright green, and somewhat slender. The flowers are not as large and showy as some of the hybrid Cannas, but they are very attractive to hummingbirds. I have used these cannas as models for hummingbird feeders.

Cannas are easy to grow from seed. This particular variety is very early to bloom, and they were beginning to flower by late July in my zone 6 garden. They prefer a sunny location, with moist, fertile soil. I've included seed sowing instructions on the packet.
