Midnight Skies Handmade Lampwork Vessel on a Gun Metal Chain
Description
This little vessel turned out to be more beautiful than I expected when I made it. I used a 1/4" hollow mandrel to blow and shape this vessel. Before I melted the glass enough to make it soft to shape it, I rolled the glass in raku frit. Frit is small pieces of broken glass used for decoration. I melted the frit into the glass. I blew the vessel and shaped it in the flame. I added a single handle to the vessel so that it can be worn on a chain or even a kumihimo braid. The vessel is hollow, so you can put a small amount of whatever you would like in to it. I put some essential oil in my vessel, and I added some very small rocks that I collected on a journey to Europe. It's amazing what you can fit into a vessel of this size! I put a chain through the handle of my vessel, and I wear it around my neck. You can do that, too. Although not pictured, I am enclosing an 18 inch gun metal chain so that you can wear your vessel immediately. This vessel is made from one of my favorite colors of glass--cobalt blue. This beautiful bead has been cleaned for your immediate use. It has also been kiln annealed for added strength and durability. It's part of my line that I call instant jewelry. When you receive it, wear it! It's made for that.Added on Oct 26, 2009
