Little White Tundra Parka fits from 1 year old to 3 years old great as overall shell for coats
Description
Just a quick update - when autumn weather hit Toronto we discovered that this white and fluffy garment loves dirt! Wet sand, leaves and dirt - it all comes off by simple hand washing in a sink! This garment is amazing - dirt will either roll off it the moment it lands on it or it washes off like a song - the fabric is amazing. And when it quickly line-dries the coat becomes fluffy (and white) again!Another thing - we started wearing it OVER autumn jacket - like a shell - it covers any coat and seals it from winds, protects it from dirt and the look is so beautiful!

I just realized that my interest to Inuit art and culture came from very possible connection between my family and the Inuit of North America. My mom's family originates from North Eastern Siberia - they have been living there from late 18th century, settling along Amur River and sometimes reaching as far as Yakutia! A sort of 6 degrees of separation. That just proves that all people are brothers and sisters when you dig one-two centuries back into your family history...
This garment is inspired by my research on "Amauti" - winter garment of Inuit people.
I have used an off-white micro plush and a vintage silky bias-woven 3cm wide trim - its colors and its angular design reminded me of Polar Lights. They have this trim since olden times; one can tell just by touching it that they don't make trim like that anymore - it feels like silk and as if it was alive - so soft and shifting, due to its silk threads and bias weaving!
This garment is very light weight and so soft! It fits a child from 1 year old up to 3 years old! That's the beauty of traditional clothes - they are designed for longer wearing cycles.
The baby on the pictures, modeling this Amauti-inspired garment, is 11 months old; however, originally, this Amauti-inspired garment was created for a 3 years old child, using the size 3T measurements.
This Amauti-inspired garment is so easy to put on - just slip it through the generous neck opening - no buttons, no snaps, no ties or cords.
This Amauti-inspired garment won't bunch up thanks to its ingenious cut designed by Inuit people - high cut over the hips - to allow free movement and to prevent the garment from bundling up, and low, graciously curved cut over front and back to keep those parts warm. The sinusoid hemline is offset by the amazing "Polar Lights" turquoise and blue trim.
Canadian winter is coming and will be here any time now - and this soft, warm, light-weighted, super comfortable, roomy, fits over any clothes, easy to put on Amauti-inspired garment, will become one of our favourite outfits for this winter and for next one as well.
I am taking orders on this Amauti-inspired garment. I can make the length 2-3" longer at no additional charge and add some elastic around the hood circumference at no charge as well. I have very limited amount of this off-white micro-plush - I will be able to make 3-4 Amauti-inspired garment out of it, no more. After that I will be making this Amauti-inspired garment in Snow White and Creme White micro plush
