Storm Glass Barometer Weather Station for Desk Top with Figured Walnut base, optional nameplate

This well crafted desk top weather station would make a great gift for that special occasion, especially for the hard-to-buy-for man.

The weather station's primary focus is a world globe storm glass barometer similar to those that have been used to forecast weather for centuries. As shown in the photos, the glass is etched with the world's continents and is filled with colored water (you add the water and food coloring following the included, easy directions). The globe sits in a round hole made to just fit the glass. The two ivory colored insets are a thermometer and hygrometer, which measures relative humidity. The thermometer shows both Fahrenheit (on the outer ring) and Celsius (on the inner ring).

I have selected highly figured black walnut wood to build this display and finished it to a smooth finish with an oil, varnish and wax mixture. If you like beautiful, darker woods, you'll love this.

The flat base is 9" wide and 3.75" deep and almost 1" thick. The overall height of the weather station is almost 10 inches. There are felt pads on the bottom to protect your desk or shelf.

As shown in a couple of photographs, there is room for an optional "nameplate" so that you can recognize a special person and/or event. The weather station offered here does not include a nameplate in the price, but a customized nameplate is optional. The nameplate shown in a couple of photos was temporarily taped on to generally show what one could look like. The one in the photo measures 1" high and 3.25" wide. Or, you could put a larger name plate flat on the base. Or, I think that the weather station looks good without any nameplate.

If you would like a nameplate, you can either purchase one from a local source near you (like a trophy or jewelery store), or I can order and install one for you. The brass nameplate I can order has up to 4 lines of inscription and up to 20 characters or spaces per line. The additional cost for me to do this would be $20. Just let me know the details when you purchase it and add the additional cost to the PayPal invoice (or contact me for a revised invoice).
